For those of you who haven't heard TLC is doing a show called "Tattoo School" that apparently involves "teaching" a group of people how to tattoo in two weeks. This is the latest and most serious in a series of affronts to our craft generated by greed and ignorance, and as such should not be taken lightly by any of us. Jacob Redmond from Atlas Tattoo in Portland came by and did some tattooing over the last couple of days. He had some complications with a flight and did the guest spot on short notice so i wasn't able to really get the word out, but fear not, he will be back at the end of the month May 22nd-24th. thanks to every one for coming to the devotion show on friday! i had a blast and was honored that so many people showed up. i look forward to some more shows in the near future and we will definitely be doing another devotion show next year! i only managed to get one picture to turn out of the space post set up, but it was luckily keira sunshine norton's awesome sculptures...anyway heres that and some other stuff.

hey dudes, heres a peek at the flash set me and Dusty Neal are working on. Also i got a copy of book from kingpin and i am really happy with it, so if any of you pick one up i hope you feel the same. I've been reading here and there about sketchbooks and the "debate" surrounding them, question being: are they a positive tool for tattooers to take inspiration from? or are they merely helping lazy twits by feeding them designs to steal and butcher? To me they could end up being both depending on who gets their hands on them... i don't really give a shit. Its the same thing as posting tattoo pictures on myspace or a web site, everything is out there and uninspired hacks will get their hands on it regardless. I personally like the idea of someone who's work i admire being able to easily distribute an inexpensive collection of designs and artwork, plus i don't really know very many people in the tattoo industry, so i don't have alot of opportunities to buy flash or paintings or whatever from them in person. I guess i feel like if you are going to complain about something that you feel is doing the tattoo community a disservice thats fine, but it seems to me that there are bigger fish to fry, like head shops selling starter kits, or tattoo chain stores opening in shopping malls, or "how to tattoo" books being sold at borders...etc. To me making flash or a sketchbook or going to conventions and putting your work out there is just getting involved, and if you are to concerned with protecting your work from all the originality thieves... well... don't flatter yourself, its all been done before and you got your chops from someone else to.

hey guys, so i have a set of flash available through Kingpin tattoo supply you can buy it here. its 6 sheets with 2 larger designs on each sheet, it was alot of fun to make... hope you like it. im currently working on another set which will hopefully be available in the not to distant future, and also a sketch book that should be available shortly. also the art for tibet web site is up with a list of attending artists a gallery and information about the auction and events so check that out if you get a chance, its a good cause with some great artwork behind it.
